Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of a non-invasive medical system that both encourages and allows for people to take their health into their own hands. Traditional Chinese medicine sees all illness and symptoms as messages from your body indicating an imbalance. Traditional Chinese medicine recognizes the uniqueness of each individual, as well as the wholeness of our beings, this includes our thoughts, emotions and spirit, there is no separation. This understanding underlines and guides the treatments or course of action needed to find balance and increase health and wellness.

Acupuncture employs mechanical means, such as needles, to manipulate the body’s lifeforce. The theory and practice of traditional Chinese medicine is based on restoring the normal physiological flow of qi in the body. This can be done with needles, herbs, moxibustion, massage, cupping, and diet as well as physical exercise such as qi gong. Every treatment is as unique as every individual.

Cupping

Cupping is derived from the ancient modality of horning where horns from animals were heated up and then placed on the body to create a vacuum, mostly to abstract poisons or other toxins from the body. Today we use cupping as a way to increase blood flow to the muscles and fascia, removing adhesions and restrictions in the tissue. Cupping diminishes pain and swelling and has warming effect to the body. Cupping can be used as an adjunct with massage therapy or acupuncture, or by itself.
